Shilpa has also had to overcome prejudice and racism stemming from her controversial appearance on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother.
Shilpa Shetty was born on June 8, 1975, in Tamil Nadu, India. Though raised by strict, old-fashioned parents, Shilpa found that she had the freedom to pursue whatever opportunities struck her fancy. Her striking looks made her an obvious candidate for modeling, and by the time she was 16, Shilpa she had kicked off her career by appearing in an ad for a popular Indian soft drink called Limca. The following year, Shilpa made her movie debut in a 1993 thriller called Baazigar, for which she received a Best Supporting Actress nomination from the Filmfare Awards.
